- JDM rejected SM fiber due to polarization mode dispersion problems for kilometric lengths
- JDM concluded we need polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber
- Two kinds of fiber we are considering
1. Corning Panda PM 1550
2. Corning Panda PM dispersion-shifted 1550
Composite Cable Company
- will include copper wires in a protected cable, along with the specialty fiber
- occfiber.com is currently best bet at $5/meter
