			last night.
			we did J band check for CHAMP.
			We installed a reflective mirror in beam 3. beam 4 had j/h pass dicroice, which acts about about ND 1.5.

			The metorlogy laser light (1.319mu) was pretty diffiuse for beam 3 W1 (spot R4) and amounted to ~500 counts/sec per pixel in fast mode (1200Hz frame time).
			Beam 4 W2 (spot R4), the laser light was more focalized, and was 300cts/sec at peak (with dicroic that acted likd ND 1.5). this suggests the peak counts for B4W2 is more like 5000 or so at fast rate (that is high).


			Putting ND2 filter in the B3W1 counts reduced to 5 cts/pixel and .
			Putting ND 3filter in , b3W1 2 counts/pixel.
			PUtting ND 3 filter in , B4W2 3 cts. (+nd 1.5 from dicroic too).

			So.. to have metrology laser light be =10 cts for slow mode (250Hz sampling), then we have to have for B3: ND 3.3 for B4: ND=5.

			so this seems do-able with the filter I am working on with Henry Orr

	we found we could use engineering beam for this. does not suffer from 2nd spot and it 20x brighter. we can use a POS1 (instead of POS4) in white light source to have good flux at high frame rate on CHAMP.

This is not too bad.. for 12mm aperture we predict best case of 44%/55% for 12mm/14mm beam.... although opening up to full beam did not seem to yield higher %% as we would like to expect.		we found we could use engineering beam for this. does not suffer from 2nd spot and it 20x brighter. we can use a POS1 (instead of POS4) in white light source to have good flux at high frame rate on CHAMP.
